Biography

biography

I am an artist and printmaker based in Mid Wales. I am the daughter of John Brown and Anne Seymour and grew up at Pantry Fields. I have recently returned from East Africa after a 6 year period working in Sustainable Agriculture with small farmers, and I am now focusing on my creative work full time.

My work is inspired by ecology, both in the sense of relationships between organisms and their environment and the movement to protect the natural world. I have a particular interest in ecotones: places where two ecosystems meet and display a great variety of life. The diverse landscapes, plants and animals of Africa have influenced my work in recent years; I am equally inspired by the smaller nature of the UK, in particular the Welsh coast and mountain landscapes where I grew up and first discovered pattern in the hedgerows and shorelines.

My work is mostly handprinted using oil based inks in small editions and sometimes printed on a relief or etching press. I also use a portable desktop press that can be used for demonstrations and workshops.
